Owens Corning’s manufacturing methodology earns prestigious award

Owens Corning has become only the third company in the world to receive the Global Leaders Initiative Award for Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), as recognized by the Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM).

JIPM is the organization that developed TPM in 1971 and is now helping companies apply it in a disciplined and consistent way. Within the manufacturing industry, JIPM is widely considered the gold standard.

TPM is an operational excellence methodology focused on eliminating losses and improving safety, quality, and reliability.  It defines how plant teams operate, maintain, and improve processes and productivity every day. It’s designed to empower individuals and teams to speak up about a potential issue, identify what could happen next, and proactively take action.
