Our insulation technical consulting team provides comprehensive engineering judgments, accurate and detailed CAD drawings, and a knowledge base of building codes and insulation application techniques focused on perimeter fire containment solutions without sacrificing design. We develop engineering judgments on PFC systems, and the are uniquely suited to evaluate conditions where ASTM E2307 is a consideration.

Thermafiber® FireSpan® and Thermafiber® Safing mineral wool insulation products have been extensively evaluated per ASTM E2307 test method. These evaluations confirm the PFC system's exceptional ability to act as a formidable barrier against fire and and high-temperature gases, exceeding 2,000°F (1,093°C). These products are integral components of perimeter fire containment systems that have been thoroughly tested, listed, and certified by UL®* and Intertek®.

Cost-saving insulation hanger systems

Our patented Thermafiber® Impasse® Hangers lock the perimeter fire containment system in place for fast and accurate, and safer insulation positioning. With fewer hangers needed compared to traditional installation methods and employing less costly components, our Impasse® Hangers are a cornerstone of cost-effective building insulation solutions for enhanced fire containment.

Our patented Thermafiber® Impasse® Perimeter Fire Containment Systems using Thermafiber® Impasse® Hangers streamline the installation of curtain wall insulation. Salesforce Tower

Thermafiber® drew from a repository of test data dating back to the 1960s, as well as third-party and internal test data specific to the building’s conditions. A third-party engineering firm conducted a parallel engineering analysis. Thermafiber Insolutions® reviewed drawings and provided engineering judgments to support the fire containment assembly system.

Park Tower at Transbay

Thermafiber® worked with Benson Industries to develop an alternative assembly that would comply with building codes and then tested the assembly in time to avoid construction delays. The new system (CW-D-1037) was tested and approved in under a year.

One World Trade Center

The Insolutions team reviewed thousands of architectural drawings to meet the extensive code requirements and issued over two dozen engineering judgments. Thermafiber® mineral wool strategically protected critical fire spread areas—between floor slabs, within the curtain wall system, and on aluminum mullions. Custom hangers facilitated insulation attachment within the curtain wall, accommodating unique framing configurations.
