Owens Corning stays Safer Together

Owens Corning has been on a focused safety journey for more than 20 years, implementing and improving safety management systems to drastically reduce injury rates.

The company takes pride in how far it has come, and it has posted world-class safety performance metrics among manufacturing peers.

In fact, in the Spring of 2023, the company’s workplace safety performance metrics were 81% better than the industry average, an accomplishment it had maintained for the previous 13 years.

But when the goal is zero injuries, the journey is always evolving.

To break through the performance plateau and keep employees even safer, the company introduced Safer Together in November 2023.

Safer Together is the company’s operating framework, inclusive of culture and processes and systems. Safer Together improved safety performance and strengthened the sense of ownership and commitment among employees and company leaders, setting a new benchmark for workplace safety culture.

As of the close of 2025, employees at more than 50 percent of Owens Corning facilities worked injury free for the year.

The plateau is being overcome and the journey to zero injuries is gaining momentum. At its core, Safer Together is one of many reflections of the Owens Corning values of caring and commitment.

Moreover, Safer Together is built to last. It was intentionally developed as a cultural movement, not a moment in time. Many employees say they value the company’s safety practices and often share how they implemented changes at home, which help them to keep families safe.
