Our Commitment to Shingle Recycling

Owens Corning is committed to diverting 2 million tons of shingles from landfills annually.

We are focused on two processes to keep shingles out of landfills following their useful life:

  • Recycling shingles into new shingles.
  • Recycling shingles into asphalt paving.

As a company with a long history in sustainability leadership, this is a critical next step on our circular economy journey. We have a role in sustainability, and we’re taking action because it’s the right thing to do.

Why should shingles be recycled?

Roofing shingles can be recycled, reducing the amount of construction waste in landfills. Recycled material made from old roofing shingles can be used in a variety of applications, such as asphalt roadways.

Instead of throwing away, dumping or burying old roofing shingles, find a roofing contractor or recycling facility near you that recycles old, torn-off roof shingles. You win with a beautiful, durable new roof — and the planet wins through responsible use of our natural resources.
