Foamglas Insulation system helping to mitigate corrosion

FOAMGLAS® Insulation Systems for Mitigating Corrosion Under Insulation

The pipes and equipment that process or carry water, steam, gas and petrochemicals must perform reliably under harsh industrial and environmental conditions that can lead to CUI. The insulating material and system is an important decision to mitigate CUI.

industrial insulation

The importance of insulating hot storage tank bases

With rising energy costs, the ever-growing issue of CUI and focus on overall safety, it has become cost-effective to install a thermal insulation system underneath hot storage tanks.

Underground Pipes

Key considerations in designing direct burial insulation systems

Placing piping underground has been a widely accepted way of designing and installing process piping networks for decades.

Complex engineering structure of oil and chemical petroleum refinery plant

The role of insulation systems in limiting heat transfer

The role of an insulation system is to provide thermal resistance under sometimes harsh environmental and service conditions.

industrial insulation

Passive fire protection in buildings with through penetration fire stop systems

Personnel safety is the most important criteria when designing buildings, especially buildings with high occupancy. When fire safety is considered, large buildings are often divided into separate compartments that will help prevent the quick spread of fire throughout the building

LNG POSTCARD FROM WISCONSIN: STRUCTURAL STRENGTH AND SUSTAINABILITY

Located in southeastern, Wisconsin, U.S.A., Ixonia LNG is a peak sharing energy provider operated by Wisconsin Energy, and one of the state’s largest LNG facilities.

Fire Performance of Foamglas insulation systems

The goal of fire endurance testing of a mechanical insulation system is to demonstrate that the system will help to prevent a pipe or piece of equipment from reaching a specified temperature too quickly.

Industrial Insulation

Design considerations for pipe supports and the influence on thermal performance

The choice of insulation material is critical to the long-term viability of a project. The same is true for determining the appropriate method for supporting insulated piping.

CW pipes

The impact of moisture in chilled water insulation systems

Chilled water and other below ambient systems are present in large commercial buildings and a wide range of manufacturing facilities. These applications require an insulation system that resists vapor drive to help ensure the process performs as designed.

firefighter extinguishing flames

The behavior of industrial insulation in case of fire

Industrial fires claim multiple lives and millions of dollars in direct and shut-down costs annually. Their prevention should be sought in all aspects of industrial design, including insulation.

hot oil pipes

Combustible liquids in insulation

Fires can result when combustible liquids, such as oils and heat transfer fluids, are absorbed by insulation materials (also called “wicking”).

Fresno Training Facility

The importance of training programs for proper insulation installations

For any hydrocarbon-related project, the quality of insulation material and installation are critical for process control, safety and long-term performance.

LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) tanker anchored in Gas terminal gas tanks for storage

Key factors that affect material selection in LNG service

LNG is a mixture of low-molecular-weight hydrocarbons that has been cooled down to liquid form for ease and safety of non-pressurized storage or transport.

FOAMGLAS® Cryo Spill™ System

FOAMGLAS® Cryo Spill™ System

In the event of a cryogenic liquid spill, the FOAMGLAS® Cryo Spill™ System can help reduce the rate of vaporization and provide thermal shock protection to concrete and steel.
