extreme is our element.

trusted to the extreme.

Owens Corning’s FOAMGLAS® insulation solutions are designed to perform in the harshest environments—handling temperatures from -265°C to +430°C (-445°F to +806°F).

Made from a matrix of hermetically sealed glass cells, FOAMGLAS® insulation delivers unmatched strength, dimensional stability, and protection against both intense heat and extreme cold. It’s non-combustible and completely impermeable to water and vapor—two of the most damaging threats to insulation performance.

FOAMGLAS® insulation is a trusted choice in demanding environments.

FEATURED INSULATION SYSTEMS

FOAMGLAS® PFS™ System

Installed in LNG impoundment basins, the FOAMGLAS® Pool Fire Suppression™ System (Gen 2) offers a passive, low-maintenance solution to reduce thermal radiation and flame height during LNG fires. Easy to install, it provides immediate mitigation of heat, combustion rate, visibility, and overall fire size.

LNG POOL FIRE TEST

Watch as we compare an unprotected LNG pool fire with a protected one. This LNG Burn Test, conducted by TEEX at Texas A&M, showcases the stark differences in fire behavior and suppression efficiency with and without Foamglas® PFS™ installed.

FOAMGLAS® Cryogenic Piping Systems

Cold and cryogenic processes from -43°C to -160°C create intense vapor drive, risking energy loss, condensation, and insulation failure. FOAMGLAS® insulation acts as a barrier against moisture ingress from vapor drive and external sources, helping protect the integrity, efficiency, and longevity of pipes and equipment.

TIMED INSTALL STUDY FOR LNG PIPING

In August of 2024, a market installation study was conducted by an independent, third-party insulation contractor, commissioned by Owens Corning Insulation Systems, LLC.

This study timed the installation of different insulating materials to a common specification to analyze both, time to install as well as cost of labor and materials.

A Chapter from our sustainability story

we strive for circular economy

Glass can be recycled over and over again. Currently, approximately 50% of the raw material used to make FOAMGLAS® insulation at our European facilities comes from recycled materials such as car windows and product waste from our production.

*Weighted average based on total mass of final products put on the market. Calculation based on ISO 22095 rolling average percentage method.
