Performance Attributes

Thermafiber® FireSpan® is available in a range of densities, including 4.0, 8.0, and 12.0 pcf, to accommodate different performance goals in curtain wall systems. It has been tested in UL® and Intertek® fire-rated assemblies with 1, 2, and 3 hour ratings, and demonstrates fire resistance at temperatures over 2,000°F (1,093°C) when evaluated using the ASTM E119 time-temperature curve. This foil-faced mineral wool insulation features a durable facing that helps with vapor control and provides added protection during installation and handling. Its mineral wool composition can also support sound management by helping reduce sound transfer between spaces. FireSpan® mineral wool insulation is noncombustible, moisture-resistant, and designed to resist corrosion, mold, and physical wear over time.
