Owens Corning® JointSealR® Foam Board Joint Tape is an acrylic polyolefin joint tape used to seal ship lap or butt edge joints on FOAMULAR® NGX™ Extruded Polystyrene (XPS) Rigid Insulation. Sealing of the joints with JointSealR® Tape allows the XPS insulation to function as air or weather barrier.
JOINTSEALR®
FOAM JOINT TAPEFeatures
- Thin and flexible to seal around penetrations and uneven surfaces
- Aggressive adhesive; long-term adhesion, strength and handle-ability
- Low application temperatures (-18 °C / (0 °F))
- Remains flexible and elastomeric allowing it to move with building components
- Compatible with XPS insulation and other materials, see CCMC
No. 14003-R - Water and air resistive barrier material
- Sealing option as part of the FOAMULAR® CodeBord® Air Barrier System
Installation Instructions
Deliver products in their original packages and store in conditions of 16-27 °C (60-80 °F) and 40-60% relative humidity in the original carton.
See CABS report 12935-R and CCMC report 14003-R for details for weatherproofing around openings and penetrations through exterior walls.
For best adhesion, the tape should be applied over the foam sheathing at the time the sheathing is installed.
- Surface of FOAMULAR® XPS insulation to which JointSealR® Foam Joint Tape is applied must be smooth, clean, dry, and free of contaminants.
- Remove release liner backing material and center the adhesive tape over the joint to be sealed.
- Continue to remove the liner and press the tape firmly in place over the joint.
- Lap intersections or joined tapes a minimum of 89 mm (3.5”).
- Using a J-Roller or laminate roller, roll the tape firmly in place to ensure intimate contact between tape and substrate and to eliminate trapped air between the tape and substrate.
