Thermal insulation solutions for underground sewage lines.
The purpose of a drainage system is to carry sewage, rainwater, or other liquid wastes to a point of disposal.
A frozen sewer line, or a sewer trap is not typically a common occurrence. But if it does occur, it can close a drain system. When water freezes in the pipe, it expands and can damage the plumbing system, or create a stoppage. Copper and plastic pipes are susceptible to freezing when exposed to temperatures any lower than 0°C (32°F).
To protect underground sewage lines, you will need a specialty insulation material, regular house insulation will compress and lose its insulating ability. Compressed insulation no longer has an air barrier, or intended insulating factor.
Like almost any underground installation, the insulation itself should be impermeable and have high compressive strength to for protection from the surrounding soil. The elements, ground water or possible leakages could disintegrate other types of insulation.
