Marking a decade of Owens Corning caring for our military veterans
Owens Corning has continuously sought to make a positive impact on the lives of those who have served our country. Since 2016, more than 750 veterans and their families have received new roofs that symbolize a fresh start and security in their homes.
The program is tracking to reach the 800-roof milestone in 2026.
For the past decade, Owens Corning has proudly partnered with the company’s Platinum Preferred roofing contractors and various charitable organizations to launch and sustain the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project. This heartwarming initiative aims to provide deserving veterans with new roofs for their homes, ensuring they live comfortably and with the peace of mind they deserve.
Through this program, Platinum Preferred roofing contractors volunteer their services and expertise to veterans in need. Owens Corning contributes by donating the roofing materials, making it a collaborative effort driven by care and respect for families who have sacrificed for our nation. This mutual commitment is driven by a deep appreciation for the veterans' dedication and their invaluable contributions.
Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor Best Choice Roofing has participated in the program several times and shared the impact it has had on them and their communities:
Owens Corning: How and why did Best Choice first get involved with the Roof Deployment Project?
Best Choice Roofing: Giving back to our community has always been a core value at Best Choice Roofing. So when Owens Corning first offered the opportunity to support a veteran in need, there was no hesitation; all of us at BCR were all in. We’re proud to have veterans on our team, and we know that nearly everyone’s life has been impacted by a veteran (whether it’s a spouse, sibling, grandparent, or friend). That connection made the decision an easy one. Our hope is that if a veteran in our own lives ever needed help, a company would step up for them the way we strive to do now.
Owens Corning: What does it mean to you and to Best Choice to give back to the community?
Best Choice Roofing: Giving back to the community means everything to me personally and to Best Choice Roofing as a whole. Our company wouldn’t be where it is today without the support of the people and neighborhoods we serve, so we see it as both a responsibility and a privilege to give back. It’s more than just good business; it’s about making a real impact in people’s lives. Whether we’re raising money for back-to-school programs for kids in need or partnering with OC to support a veteran in need, we believe in showing up for our community in meaningful ways. That’s the heart of who we are at BCR.
Owens Corning: What has your experience been like with both OC and our veterans with this project?
Best Choice Roofing: Amazing, we love our partners at OC. Being the nation’s largest Platinum Preferred Contractor comes with its perks, but without a doubt, the people at OC are the biggest ones. It’s been awesome to watch Abby D. and our Area Sales Managers dedicate their time and energy, not just to supporting our team, but also to making sure these veterans are genuinely taken care of. Hearing the gratitude and appreciation directly from the veterans makes it all more than worth it, 10 times over.
Owens Corning: Do you have any single memory or story that stands out for you or your employees that’s associated with doing this work?
Best Choice Roofing: Miss Beverly’s story stands out the most to us. She was our sixth free roof recipient of 2025, and from the moment she learned we were truly giving her a free brand-new roof, she was overcome with emotion. She genuinely couldn’t believe it was happening. Even as our team was driving away after the installation, she was still expressing how thankful she was. It’s hard to fully comprehend what many of our veterans have endured, but being able to help, even in a small way, and take one burden off Miss Beverly’s shoulders was an incredibly meaningful experience and something that will stick with me forever.
