Owens Corning named one of America’s most charitable companies by Newsweek
Owens Corning has been named among America’s most charitable companies by Newsweek for 2026. The award signifies industry leadership in corporate philanthropy, supporting communities, championing causes, and giving back.
The 300 winners were narrowed down from an initial group of 2,000 of the largest publicly traded companies headquartered in the United States. Owens Corning was among the top 13 companies in its industry category to make the overall list.
The company’s strategic focus on philanthropy is grounded in three priorities: safe and efficient housing, basic health, and access to education/employment opportunities. Over the past decade, Owens Corning employees and stakeholders have helped to provide nearly 800 free roof replacements for veterans in need, built or renovated 500 homes with Habitat for Humanity, packed and served 2.1 million meals for those in need, and invested more than 300,000 volunteer hours.
“This recognition is a testament to the passion and generosity of our employees and key stakeholders,” said Don Rettig, director of community affairs and president of the Owens Corning Foundation. “Giving back is one way we demonstrate caring, a core value at Owens Corning, which speaks to who we are as a company and what our people are all about. We believe strengthening our communities is simply part of how we do business, and we are honored to be recognized for that commitment.”
Newsweek based its list of awardees on three criteria, designed to create a balanced view of corporate philanthropy and charitable engagement:
1. Panel Survey (Perception): Approximately 18,000 U.S. residents were surveyed online to capture external perceptions of companies’ philanthropic and charitable activities.
2. Social Listening: Social listening captured how philanthropic engagement is discussed in the public sphere by tracking and analyzing mentions and sentiment across news and online sources.
3. KPI Collection & Analysis (Company Reporting): CSR/ESG public reporting and related disclosures were reviewed to assess philanthropic activities, including metrics such as volunteering and corporate giving.
